Biography

Ed Blaze grew up in Tanzania, was raised by his grandparents in a small village with no electricity or tap water. Although life was modest, he always made people laugh. He recalls always being funnyman who kept everyone in stitches as a young boy back in his African boarding school.

With his sights set, he immigrated to the United States in 1998 in pursuit of his dreams. He lived in California and then moved to the East Coast where he resided in Newark, New Jersey before settling in Washington, D.C. Ed attended several colleges where he studied computer networking. He is also an entrepreneur with experience as an event promoter and video/film director but his true passion was always comedy.

From his years growing up in Africa to overcoming the challenges of learning English as a second language to his native tongue Swahili, Ed’s life experiences inspire his comedic routines. Ed has a full arsenal of original comedic material covering topics of African culture, American culture, politics, current events, human sexuality, marriage, pop culture, and race. His influences include Richard Pryor, Dave Chapelle, George Carlin, Carlos Mencia, and Chris Rock to name a few.

When he is not making people laugh, Ed enjoys spending time with his family and friends and is an avid sports fan who enjoys watching basketball, boxing, football, and soccer.
